Elite Relocation provides college moving services for students moving into or out of dorms, off-campus apartments, and shared rental houses. Our movers load, move, and unload your things, so you and your family can focus on getting settled. We handle short moves across town and long moves to a school in another state.

Student Moves We Take On

A college move is rarely one trip. Most students move several times before they graduate. We book each of these as its own job:

  • Move-in at the start of the school year, from home to a dorm or apartment
  • Move-out at the end of the semester, from campus back home
  • Dorm to off-campus apartment when a student leaves campus housing
  • Apartment to apartment when a lease ends between school years
  • Out-of-state moves for students starting at a school far from home
  • Graduation moves from a student apartment to a first home or job

What Our Movers Do on Moving Day

Our movers handle the heavy lifting from the first box to the last piece of furniture. On a college move, that includes:

  • Loading boxes, bags, and furniture at your current address
  • Taking apart bed frames, desks, and shelving that will not fit through a door in one piece
  • Moving everything to the new address in our truck
  • Unloading and placing furniture in the rooms you choose
  • Putting furniture back together once it is inside

If a dorm or apartment came furnished, check which pieces belong to the school or the landlord before moving day. We only move items that belong to you.

Packing Help for Dorms and Small Apartments

You can pack your own boxes, or have our movers pack for you. We offer 3 packing options:

  • Full packing. Our movers pack everything, including dishes, books, clothes, and decor.
  • Partial packing. You pack most things yourself, and our movers pack only the items you choose.
  • Many students use this for kitchen items and electronics.
  • Custom crating. For fragile or valuable items, such as delicate electronics or framed artwork, we build a crate sized to the item.

Packing services are most useful at the end of a semester, when finals and move-out happen in the same week.

Moving a Student to a School in Another State

Some students start at a school hundreds of miles from home. Elite Relocation offers long-distance moving as well as local moving, so one company can handle the full trip. That also covers the move home at the end of the year, or a move to a new state after graduation. For a long-distance college move, list every address and any date limits on your quote request so we can plan the route and timing.

Before You Book, Check Your School's Rules

Campus housing usually has rules that shape moving day. Find out these details before you request a quote, and share them with us:

  • Move-in and move-out windows. Many schools assign each student a date and time slot.
  • Parking and loading zones. Ask where a moving truck can park and for how long.
  • Elevator access. Some buildings require you to reserve the elevator for a move.
  • Furniture limits. Some dorms restrict what furniture students can bring.

Knowing these limits ahead of time lets us schedule your move inside the window your school gives you.

College Moving Questions

What Move Size Should I Pick for a Dorm Room?

Choose “Studio,” the smallest move size on our quote form. Then use the notes field to list your larger items, such as a desk, a mini fridge, a TV, or a bed frame. That list helps us plan the right amount of time for your move.

Can Your Movers Take Apart a Bed or Desk and Rebuild It?

Yes. Disassembly and reassembly of furniture is part of our moving service. Our movers take pieces apart at your old place and put them back together at your new one.

How Early Should I Book a Move for the Start of a Semester?

Book 4 to 6 weeks before your move date. If your school assigns move-in time slots, book as soon as you get yours, then send us the date and time.

Can You Move Me Home at the End of the Year if Home Is in Another State?

Yes. We offer long-distance moves as well as local moves. Give us both addresses and your move-out date on the quote form.

Do I Need Moving Insurance for a College Move?

That depends on what you are moving. We offer several insurance options. Ask about them when you request your quote, especially if you are moving a computer, a TV, or other electronics.

Can I Pack My Clothes Myself and Have You Pack the Rest?

Yes. Our partial packing option lets you pack what you want and leave the rest to our movers. Tell us which items you want packed when you book.
